Partner: Marita, born Maria Johanna Catherina Schultz.
Together since 1990, married since 7 May 1997.

What?

I am a researcher in theoretical physics, on the subject of high energy physics. My Ph.D. research, done under the supervision of prof. Pierre van Baal, took place in the instituut-Lorentz for Theoretical Physics , part of LION, at the Universiteit Leiden. At the moment I am a post-doc at a joint position at the Ecole Normale Superieure and Universite Paris VI, Jussieu, funded by the RTN-Network Superstrings. See also the String theory in Paris page.

I try to keep an eye on the full width of the field, but my research interests are mostly concentrated on gauge theories and string theory. This is an immense research area, so some more keywords (not exhaustive) are: Bundles, gerbes, D-branes, orientifolds, singularities, M-theory, Lie groups, topology. My publications on some of these topics can be found on the web-archives of physics publications (mainly High Energy Physics - theory) and in several journals.

As Ph.D. student, I have contributed to the physics education at the University of Leiden. I have assisted in the courses:
